The Two Wills meet Murray Irvine

The two Wills head to Rins o Galloway and meet up with Murray Irvine, a historian and storyteller.

Murray’s been looking at the local census information and has found that many of the people living in the area, historically, were from Ireland - and their descendants, especially farm workers, still live in the area today.

Most of those original Irish immigrants would have come across for the harvest and many of them remained in employment with the Scottish farmers - some of them wrote their names in the attic where they slept - including an uncle of Willie Cromie!

The men discuss the similarities in vocabulary for the farming practices. (Broadcast: 11/09/2005)
