The minister: short trailer introducing a new series
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wales takes two families on an epic journey back in time. Their destination: 19th century Snowdonia and a life of farming and quarrying that will test them to their limits.
Meet the minister for the Snowdonia community in this promo clip. Ministers were renowned for their fire and brimstone sermons and travelled across Wales to deliver dramatic portrayals of scriptural characters and events, or lecture on political and theological subjects.
In the non-conformist chapel communities of Snowdonia, ministers preached the importance of temperance, neighbourliness and chaste living. They played a central role in the community, delivering up to three sermons on a Sunday and leading chapel activities virtually every day. These would include literary meetings, seiats (religious meetings), and social evenings.
