Hull to London
A taste of Coast's 200 mile journey down England鈥檚 east coast, from the river Humber to the river Thames and into the heart of the capital.
Neil Oliver explores the Norfolk shoreline that inspired his seafaring hero Lord Nelson to greatness. Alice Roberts heads to Orford Ness and the nearby Bawdsey Manor, where the first British Radar station was built, to meet two women posted there during the war to operate the early warning system. Off the Norfolk coast Nick Crane explorers the remarkable lost world of 鈥楧oggerland鈥, the home of the early Britons lost to sea some 10,000 years ago as sea levels rose after the last age. Miranda Krestovnikoff wades out in the mud of 鈥楾he Wash鈥 a vast tidal feeding ground for migrating birds. On the Thames Estuary Mark Horton joins a crew on competition day to discover how the elegant yacht-like design of the Essex Fishing Smack is perfectly adapted to dredging for oysters.
