Royal Highland Show - Una Cameron
In March this year, Scotswoman Una Cameron became the first woman in over 50 years of competition to get into the final 30 of the Golden Shears New Zealand. This New Zealand based competition is the holy grail of sheep shearers. Competing against over 100 other shearers from around the world, Una Cameron was knocked out just before the final heats.
Fresh from her New Zealand experience, Una will be competing in the shearing competition at this year’s Royal Highland Show when a Scottish team will be chosen for the World Championships in Wales later this summer. If she succeeds at Ingleston Una will be the first woman to make the Scottish sheep shearing team for the World Championships.
