Winner 1982
Coverage of the twenty seventh annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from Harrogate International Centre in Harrogate, United Kingdom.
After coming second for the previous two years Germany's efforts paid off and they won a decisive victory with Nicole singing "Ein bisschen Frieden". The song secured writers Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger a place in Eurovision history, writing eighteen songs between them in all, thirteen of which were for Germany.
It was the seventh time the United Kingdom had hosted the event, which remained a record as of 2010.
France did not enter this contest and national broadcaster TF1 provoked an outcry when the head of entertainment
publically ridiculed the competition. A different broadcaster took over the reigns and returned the country to the contest the following year.
