The crested tit family has been avidly watched by Simon King and the Springwatch team up in Scotland during the 2008 season. On the very last day of transmission, the crested tit chicks began poking their heads through their nest box entrance, teasing everyone that they may finally fledge. In the end, all six chicks leave the nest. Only one has slight problems and ends up on the floor, a vulnerable place for a little chick that can easily get picked off by stoats and other predators. He is last seen hanging around at the bottom of the tree clinging to the bark.
