Lake Vyrnwy life
Lake Vyrnwy has abundant wildlife including thousands of bugs which are the basis of life for many other creatures, such as common sandpipers and grey wagtails. The great crested grebe is a fish-eating bird. The goosander is also a fish-eater and much rarer than a red kite. The mother has a large brood of chicks, which she is taking across the lake to safe, still waters. The babies climb on to mum's back to get a lift, but there isn't room for all of them, so they take turns. She leads them to the sanctuary of a quiet backwater for a well earned rest.
