Wetland raptor

Chris Packham visits Sculthorpe Moor with Nigel Middleton of the Hawk and Owl Trust to see marsh harriers. There is one male and two females here - the male may be looking after two nests. There are now over 300 breeding pairs of marsh harriers in the UK but that still makes it as rare as a golden eagle. East Anglia is its stronghold but there's no room for complacency, as these birds have had a chequered history. Chris and Nigel watch the female flying about in the rain, shaking her wings to try and dry them off. Chris thinks she needs some sunshine!
