On a landfill site just outside London, seven-week-old fox cubs emerge from their den in a heap of old car tyres. The dog fox is kept busy bringing food to his family while the cubs wrestle and play. The landfill site is abundant in food, so these urban foxes grow quicker and look healthier than their country cousins. Eventually it will be up to the vixen to bring up the cubs, but until they are weaned she must rely on her mate to bring food back to the den. Almost half a million fox cubs are born each spring in the UK, although many will not make it to adulthood.
