Khaled al-Berry, Former Militant
As a member of a violent Egyptian Islamist group, Khaled al-Berry spent his time dreaming of martyrdom. He regrets his past but thinks his experience could have lessons for others.
Khaled al-Berry was just fourteen when he joined the violent Egyptian Islamist group Jamaa al-Islamiya. He says they offered him friendship and protection and in return he supported their belief that violence was the only way to establish an Islamic state. Now aged 37 and living in London, he regrets his association with the group, but feels his experience has lessons for others. Carrie Gracie talks to him
