Forest haven
Researcher Andrea Turkalo has spent every day of the last 20 years visiting Dzanga Bai, a forest clearing. She has no idea which elephants might turn up on any given day and on this one, it's Gookie, a small elephant calf who was born with a disability. It's a surprise she's still alive, as to survive in elephant society, all must keep up with the herd - and in the dense forest that's no easy task for even an able baby elephant. It's not uncommon for calves to be born with disabilities, but unlike on the savannah, there are no large predators here in the forest, so that might explain why Gookie has survived for so long.
