Night of passion
Every spring, just after the snow melts, there is an extraordinary mass migration through the forests of North East America. Thousands of spotted salamanders that have spent the past year hidden underground emerge with one mission in mind - to get to water for a single night of passion. Then the females spawn. Amphibian eggs are soft and dry out quickly in the air. This is why spotted salamanders must still return to the water to breed.
