In the 1940s, Henry Moore was approached frequently by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ radio producers to take part in programmes (including one occasion in 1944 when he was asked to talk about 'the coal situation'). However, he usually found a reason to turn down these requests, citing pressure of work and a reluctance to be heard by friends and critics.
