Svalbard glacier on the move
When programme maker Jeff Wilson went on location to Svalbard to film for new series Frozen Planet, he thought that the island of Spitzbergen was moving beneath his feet. He discovered that the movement and strange creaking noise was a nearby glacier slowly making its way towards the sea.
All the sound on the video is the natural sound of glacier ice moving. The sounds used on the clip were recorded by Chris Watson in a different location, but it was the similar eerie noises that Jeff heard on Svalbard that alerted the team to the glacier's movement.
