The stresses of working in France have been laid bare by the news of a spate of suicides at France Telecom. But why are French workplaces so stressful?

The news that 23 employees of the French telephone company France Telecom had committed suicide since the beginning of last year has led to accusation and counter-accusation in recent days. According to the World Health Organisation, France has one of the highest industrial-related suicide rates in the world. But why? Alasdair Sanford now reports from Paris.
