House proud husbands
Male harvestmen are responsible for looking after the eggs. One dutifully cleans and guards his mud nest with its hundreds of eggs. Another male tries to steal the nest - they fight and the intruder is driven away. A female arrives and inspects the male's nest. Courtship, mating and egg laying takes place. But the next female is not here to lay eggs. She pretends to inspect the nest and mates, but then she tries to eat one of the earlier female's eggs. The male bites her legs until she runs away and he reburies the egg. A month later the babies hatch.
