A year on from the short conflict between Russia and Georgia, Georgia has seen its ambition to become a bigger player on the world stage fade from view.
The Georgia-Russia conflict - which began one year ago on Friday - was devastating for the smaller of the two states. It saw the ensuing Russian invasion of the breakaway region of South Ossetia as an incursion into its sovereign territory. But Georgia also saw its hopes of becoming a bigger player on the world stage fade from view. In this Analysis, Tom Esslemont asks: what became of Georgia?
