While adult otters are quite at home in the sea, young cubs stay out of the water for the first three months until their coats become waterproof. It'll be many more weeks before they can catch their own food, so for now the mother must do all the hunting. Eel pouts are a particular favourite and eagerly anticipated by the cubs.
