Patagonian spring
Spring brings, migrant birds and other animals to the Patagonian altiplano, immediately begin breeding in order to take full advantage of the brief summer. The early birds bag the best territories and force later arrivals higher up to the less desirable areas. Defense of territory, nests and eggs is paramount. Grey foxes raid eggs as soon as they're laid, and there's nothing the parents can do. But the highly territorial guanco is more than a match for the fox and won't tolerate intruders of any kind.
