Presenter, Nicola Weir, travels to Rock Farm in Knockloughrim close to Maghera to speak to a group of farmers who have come together to create seasonal veg boxes for their local communities. The Veg Collective combines the growing talents of Bernard Gleeson, Gerard Convery, Anna Bradley and Malachy Smyth who produce vegetables on their farms but combine them into one offering. The Irish Farmers’ Journal Northern Editor, David Wright, outlines the views of the Chief Vet, Brian Dooher, when it comes to eradicating bovine TB and Equine Vet, Esther Skelly Smith highlights how horses can’t be forgotten in Northern Ireland when it comes to welfare, traceability and transport. Technology is the farmer’s friend in the field and Francis Lively from AFBI explains how virtual fencing could be a game changer for more efficient animal handling and Emma Shields from Kilkeel brings home the bacon by picking up the title of UK Pig Stockperson of the Year at the National Pig Awards in London.
