Detling 23
It’s a family affair as two teams shop for bargains at a huge antiques fair in Kent with the help of their experts, Mark Stacey and Catherine Southon.
Eric Knowles saddles up for a gallop around an antiques fair in Kent, as he visits a museum in Maidstone that’s home to a unique collection of horse-drawn vehicles and transport-related treasures. The collection is the legacy of former local businessman Sir Garrard Tyrwhitt-Drake, who began collecting carriages when he saw that the motor car was forcing the horse-drawn vehicles of his childhood off the road.
Over at the fair in Detling, two teams of families are under starter’s orders, with experts Catherine Southon and Mark Stacey by their side. On the red team are father and daughter Hash and Jaymeesha, and on the blues are mum and son Jenny and Dan.
The reds have a few tricks up their sleeves when Hash performs a card trick for a stallholder to get a discount on the ticket price! Meanwhile, the blues aren’t cock-a-hoop when they learn the price of a French bronzed rooster. Then it’s off to the auction in Portsmouth, where John Cameron gives Eric the lowdown on the teams’ lots and auctioneer Daniel Tricker does the business on the rostrum.
