Facial recognition experts deliver an extraordinary result. And Sandra Rivettβs son Neil goes face to face with the man he believes killed his mother.
Is a mystery that has bewildered police and investigators for fifty years about to be solved?
Neil and Glenβs findings are quickly dismissed by the police and a 2018 scientific report, but it is not so easy to throw Neil off his track. At this point Neilβs decision is to raise his game, not abandon it. βNeilβs got this conviction β like titanium β and it runs through himβ, says Glen.
Having acquired the detailed medical notes of Lucanβs plastic surgeon from more than fifty years earlier, Neil starts his own facial analyses. He finds a tiny nick in the nostril that he feels may be a crucial key to identifying Lucan today, and starts to map out ways in which the fugitive Lord might have continued to use plastic surgery to alter his facial features. He also calls in the expertise of a leading university professor and expert in AI facial recognition, and asks him to run to a high-tech study of the images of the man they have found.
Computer analysis of the images of Neilβs Buddhist monk and Lord Lucan produces an extraordinary result. The two men, the research reveals, are highly likely to be the same man.
Now it is time for Neil to go face to face with the man he believes killed his mother, and for a subsequent discovery he could never have predicted.
Neil and Glen revisit the key moments in their forensic investigation in order to show us the detective work upon which their case has been built.
