In the Riku Royal Army Rebellion headquarters, Thunder Soldier starts recounting what happened on Dressrosa 10 years ago. Ten years ago, Dressrosa was a peaceful kingdom ruled by King Riku III, who was loved and trusted by the citizens. But one night, Doflamingo shows up in Riku’s bedroom and claims himself as Dressrosa’s rightful king. Doflamingo gives Riku an ultimatum—buy Dressrosa for 10 billion berries or fight for it. Not wanting bloodshed, Riku chooses to pay him 10 billion berries. He has no choice but to collect the money from the citizens. The citizens are puzzled but happily give up their fortune for their king. But suddenly, Riku, his body manipulated by Doflamingo’s Devil Fruit power, rides into town, puts the town on fire, and starts slaughtering the citizens.
