Hailing from South Africa in the late 90s, Afro house is a subgenre of house music that incorporates or takes influence from traditional African rhythms, instruments, and vocal styles. From its beginnings in South Africa, today it is one of dance music's most prominent genres and has gone onto reach the heights of the pop charts.

Pete runs down some of his favourites from the likes of Black Coffee, Keinemusik, Zakes Bantwini, Themba, Nitefreak, Atmos Blaq and many more.

South African DJ and producer Shimza picks his Essentials from the genre, and Pete rewinds a mix from Kitty Amor, which will take you on a journey from London to Johannesburg.
