Space as the instrument, sea as the score

Verity Sharp plays music for the night sky and the depths of the ocean, with new music from Felicia Atkinson and Brussels duo Vica Pacheco and Pak Yan Lau.

Verity Sharp has new music from French artist Felicia Atkinson鈥檚 latest album 鈥楽pace as an Instrument鈥�. Atkinson layers piano voice notes with wisps of electronics for a sound which is 鈥榣ike being absorbed by the immensity of the night sky鈥�. On the flipside, Brussels duo Vica Pacheco and Pak Yan Lau have composed an album of bubbling electronics, dedicated to the Pacific Ocean.

Elsewhere in the show, we have a sonic pilgrimage along the 鈥楨strada Longa鈥�, a 720-km long road that spans the length of Portugal, cycled by Portuguese sound artist Vasco Alves. Along the way Alves recorded the name of each town which he then built into tracks awash with bass tone and static texture. Plus a taste of Qu茅becois folklore from violinists Nicolas Babineau & Alexis Chartrand and glassy pop from New York-based Charlotte Jacobs.
