Kirsty Wark investigates the multi-billion-pound global menopause industry. It promises women relief from often debilitating symptoms if they buy specially branded supplements, teas and even pyjamas. Researchers from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford put some of the scientific claims behind these products under the microscope.
While many women struggle to access the support they need through the NHS, a growing number are choosing to seek help privately. Panorama examines the prescribing practices at an online clinic run by one of the world’s most successful menopause specialists and hears from former patients who feel they were not properly informed of the risks of treatment.
