Public Service Broadcasting

Public Service Broadcasting interview and β€˜Live at the Biggest Weekend 2018’.

Public Service Broadcasting’s innovative blend of indie rock and old archive sound has carved a unique and idiosyncratic space for them in the pop landscape. Tracks like β€œEverest” and β€œSpitfire” from their debut album β€œInform-Educate-Entertain” and β€œGo” from the follow-up, β€œThe Race For Space” have a built a loyal fanbase for whom the appeal lies not only in the incredible music but also in the archival exploration. The music of Public Service Broadcasting takes a historical deep dive into everything from the 'space race' of the Cold War era to the Welsh mining tradition, from Titanic and the shipbuilding tradition of Belfast to the history of the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ.

The new album β€œThe Last Flight” looks at the life of Amelia Earhart, the American pilot who set numerous records including being the first female aviator to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean, setting off from Newfoundland in Canada and landing in Derry, Northern Ireland. J Willgoose Esq, from Public Service Broadcasting, talks to Stephen about the new album and they listen to an archive interview from 1935 which recounts her landing in Derry.

This episode also contains the Public Service Broadcasting live show at Titanic Slipways in Belfast in May 2018 for the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s β€œBiggest Weekend” in which they first debuted their β€œWhite Star Liner” EP.
