The Flying Fish Riders attack Luffy and the crew, but are no match against them. Brook takes down quite a few of them in his effort to be useful to the crew. While overtaking a Flying Fish Rider, Luffy accidentally crashes into Duval's hut and sees the face underneath the mask. Later, when Luffy kicks the mask off his face in front of everybody, they see a man who looks exactly like Sanji's badly drawn wanted poster. Then Duval reveals the reason for his burning hatred toward Sanji: because of his striking resemblance to the wanted poster, he was pursued relentlessly by the Marines and bounty hunters and was forced to wear a mask to hide his face.
