It’s semi-finals week, and just eight celebrities are still in the race to become this year’s champion. Getting there will be tough, and two more challenges await. Nothing will have prepared them for what’s in store, and for one more, it will be game over.
To kick things off, the fearless eight are whisked off to the rural splendour of the South Downs National Park, home to the Butser Ancient Farm, a living museum that tells the story of ancient Britain. Today, 70 volunteers will arrive to recreate the excitement of an Anglo-Saxon village, and it’s down to the celebrities to give them a lunch to remember. Working in two teams, in makeshift tents, they will need to come up with a team leader, a plan and a menu that represents the era to a tee. This feast must satisfy the heartiest appetites and give the villagers something to talk about. The celebrities might also have to contend with the risk of a Viking invasion – let’s hope it’s not due to the quality of the food.
Next, it’s back to the warmth of the MasterChef kitchen, where one more task awaits. John and Gregg want each of the celebrities to prepare one dish that celebrates an ingredient they don’t like. Can they overcome their food nemesis and deliver a tasty plate of food that puts the ingredient front and centre? Will they be brave enough to taste the dish they serve up? With a lot riding on this, not all of them will live to fight another day.
John and Gregg will decide which celebrity has fallen short of the mark, leaving the best seven heading into the next round, where some truly exciting challenges await.
