Last-Minute Winner
It’s all to play for as ceramics queen Irita Marriott and jewellery king Ishy Khan make their way through to Norfolk to the final auction in their trusty 1971 Sunbeam Rapier.
It’s all to play for, as the final auction beckons for ceramics queen Irita Marriott and jewellery king Ishy Khan. Who will reign supreme by the end of this leg?
With £200 each in their back pockets, they start today’s search for antiques and artefacts in Hingham, Norfolk, the ancestral home of the 16th president of the USA, Abraham Lincoln. Greatness takes root at their first shop too, where Irita gets stuck on a 19th-century French mantel clock, a vintage ink standish and a Wolverhampton-made copper jug. Ishy blows his cash on Chinese bellows, a vintage glass salt dish and an early 20th-century inkwell.
Taking a trip to Norwich Castle, Ishy envelopes himself in the little-told story of Margaret Fountaine, an important Victorian lepidopterist who hasn’t quite had the attention she deserves, until now! Because along with a guerrilla art movement, Irita is broadcasting Margaret’s importance in the form of an unofficial blue plaque.
With brass hooks, barometers and much more along the way, who will reign victorious at the final auction in Lichfield?
