Alice Munro鈥檚 short stories, often set in small town Canada, weave together fiction and autobiography to explore the complexities of human life. The author, who died in May, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013.

In 鈥淭he Ticket鈥�, a woman engaged to a man from a wealthier class pores over childhood memories and family lore in an attempt to prepare for married life.
