Live from the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Tom Service plays highlights from this year's Proms, and looks ahead to the new autumn season of live music on Radio 3, which includes broadcasts from the Edinburgh International Festival and Leeds International Piano Competition. His live guests include the Last Night of the Proms' conductor Sakari Oramo, Sam Jackson - Controller Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3 and Â鶹ԼÅÄ Proms, Neil Ferris, Chorus Director of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Chorus, and singers Mike Abrams & Francesca Mosely. Saxophonist Jess Gillam also drops into the Elgar room to perform live accompanied by Sam Becker on the Double Bass and talks to Tom about performing at The Last Night of the Proms in 2018.
Highlights from the Proms include performances from the first two weeks of the season, including Voces8 and The Sound of Disco from the opening weekend, Mahler's 5th Symphony with Mark Elder and the Halle Orchestra, late night song from countertenor Jakub Józef OrliÅ„ski, Ryan Wigglesworth conducting Elgar's 2nd Symphony with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and music from Proms at The Glasshouse.
