Jasdeep Singh Degun's Listening Chair

Elizabeth Alker offers up the latest genre-defying music and sitar virtuoso Jasdeep Singh Degun is in the Listening Chair to select a special track that transports him elsewhere.

Sitar player Jasdeep Singh Degun is both a custodian of the instrument’s long history and tradition and a determined innovator whose solo and collaborative work seeks out new spaces for the sitar to inhabit. Elizabeth Alker welcomes him to the Unclassified Listening Chair where he’ll select a piece of music that has the capacity to take him elsewhere.

Elsewhere in the show, Elizabeth will, as ever, present a selection of fresh music from genre-defying artists whose work plays with orchestral textures and classical form as well as the latest from a new generation of contemporary composers whose output is infused with the spirit of rock, pop and electronica.
