Why is it that women are most likely to take their own lives in their early 50s? Evie Kelsall goes on an emotional journey to understand her own mum’s suicide at the age of 53. She encourages her family to talk frankly about their loss and what it means to them.

Evie meets mental health experts and other bereaved families and learns more about the stresses that leave women most at risk of suicide in middle age. She asks whether more could be done to support mental wellbeing in this critical period where often women face multiple pressures like menopause, children leaving home and caring for elderly relatives.
