Episode 22

Episode 22 of 23

Nadeem Islam hosts a panel debate on what it means to be a parent of deaf children in 21st-century Britain.

There are 50,000 deaf children in the UK, and three deaf children are born every day, all of whom are the future of the deaf community. But what does it mean to raise these children? Parenting is a hard job, but what extra challenges come with parenting deaf children? How can these challenges be overcome?

See Hear has invited a panel of six guests from across the deaf community to find out just that. The panellists come from different backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common: they are parents of deaf children. This first episode sees the panellists exploring the early years.

Hosted by Nadeem Islam, this two-part miniseries aims to get to the heart of what it means to be a parent of deaf children in 21st-century Britain.
