Tom Service talks to pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, composer Errollyn Wallen and conductor Kazuki Yamada, and plays the freshest classical music to start your weekend!

Tom Service talks to the Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson and composer Errollyn Wallen and plays the perfect classical soundtrack for Saturday morning, from well-known classics to musical gems and a few surprises.

Víkingur is one of today's most sought after pianists, and is known for his incredible musicianship, sensitivity of sound as well as his fearless imagination. Contemporary composers and orchestra are queuing up to write for him, but he's spent the last year alone on the podium playing and recording only one piece 88 times - Bach's Goldberg Variations. He talks to Tom about the "musical love of my life", how he sees his role as a musician today and looks ahead to his 鶹Լ Proms performance with the Berlin Philharmonic

Fresh from her appointment as the new Master of the King's Music, composer Errollyn Wallen chats to Tom about her music and how she'll approach her new role, including her determination to advocate for music education in this country.

Plus the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has spent the week popping up at locations around the city, Tom chats to their conductor Kazuki Yamada who has been riding the Birmingham Tram anrmed with a keyboard to play for commuters. Plus we walk round the CBSO Shireland Academy - the state school that the orchestra has partnered with - a year on from its opening and ahead of the new term – how do you embed an orchestra in a school and is it working?

Plus the freshest classical music to start your weekend!
