Intelligent Machines
Intelligent machines are already reshaping our world, offering solutions for many human problems. But there are serious risks too. Three leading engineers delve into the impact of the AI revolution.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are the revolutionary technologies of our era. Intelligent machines are already reshaping our world; the speed of their improvement is accelerating, and every day there are more things they can do better than us. There are risks too, of course, but the opportunities for society are enormous.
Three engineers at the forefront of the AI revolution come to London to envision the future with Caroline Steel and a public audience at the Great Hall of Imperial College. They are Regina Barzilay from MIT, who created a major breakthrough in detecting early stage breast cancer, David Silver from Google DeepMind, who led the team that built the AI to defeat the world's best human player of Go, and Paolo Pirjanian, founder of Embodied, who is a pioneer in developing emotionally intelligent robots to aid child development.
