Breaking the Mould
Glass lover Mark Hill and silver specialist Margie Cooper continue their head-to-head in a 1980 MGB Roadster, hunting for antiques in Yorkshire, from Darlington to Barnard Castle.
It’s the third leg of our road trip showdown with mid-century expert extraordinaire Mark Hill and queen of silver Margie Cooper.
They brave breakdowns and the brisk weather of the Yorkshire Moors in a 1980 MGB Roadster as they make their way from Darlington to Barnard Castle, each armed with Β£200 to spend on antiques along the way.
Mark falls for the charms of the art deco period and – surprisingly – a cast iron sign for a slop water closet. Meanwhile, Margie makes a rather macabre discovery that could be a sure thing at auction.
Along the way, Mark also dives into the story of John Walker, the Yorkshire chemistry whizz who came up with a rather striking invention while experimenting around his fireplace.
Which expert will win the day as they head for the saleroom in Newton?
