Episode 2

1781: Mozart moves to Vienna and marries against his father’s wishes. Revolutionising the music scene, he becomes rich and famous, before he bites the hand that feeds him.

Vienna, 1781. Mozart, aged 25, faces an uncertain future in a city where he has few friends. He finds solace and security with the Weber family, particularly with Constanze, with whom he falls in love. Their courtship faces challenges, with his father, Leopold, refusing to give his permission to Mozart to marry. Scandalously, they go ahead anyway, and a newborn baby follows quickly after.

Fame and success also follows, but as Mozart creates his most rebellious and provocative work to date, an opera called The Marriage of Figaro, he ruffles the feathers of the elite patrons who have supported Mozart's rise to stardom.
