Gabby Logan introduces another high-octane evening of athletics, including the climax to the women’s heptathlon as Katarina Johnson-Thompson seeks Olympics redemption.

This is a fourth Olympics for Liverpudlian Johnson-Thompson, and the second in a row in which she is competing as the reigning world champion. Her bid for an elusive Olympic medal ended in agony three years ago when she collapsed on the track with an injury and was unable to continue. She put in an incredible performance to win a second world title last summer and will need to summon all her energy for the concluding 800m as she takes on two-time Olympic champion Nafi Thiam and emerging American Anna Hall.

The men’s 400m hurdles, featuring Norway’s Karsten Warholm, promises to be another highlight, and there are also finals in the women’s 400m, men’s triple jump and women’s 10,000m.
