Cornish rower and mother of three Helen Glover was tipped to claim her third games gold as part of the women’s four this morning, while the men’s quartet are the reigning world and European champions and another of Team GB’s podium hopefuls.
There were also high hopes for Rio gold medallist Joe Clarke in the men’s kayak final, and Great Britain had further medal chances in the pool, with backstroke specialist Luke Greenbank seeking to better the bronze he took in Tokyo three years ago.
