The Original Runaway - Cherie Currie
Cherie Currie, former lead singer for The Runaways, chooses her Rock God, and Johnnie celebrates Def Leppard's Joe Elliott's 65th birthday!
In the summer of 1975, a teenage band from Los Angeles forever changed the landscape for girls who wanted to rock.
Lead singer Cherie Currie was then just fifteen years old, but along with guitarist Joan Jett, the all-female band showed the industry that it wasn't just boys who could make some serious noise.
Fast forward to now, and Cherie is still performing. She's recently announced a UK tour, beginning in Huddersfield in November. She's choosing the Rock God this week, her hero being the person who she idolised as a fan and who then came to see her band perform back in the 70's, much to her own disbelief.
Elsewhere on the show, Johnnie honours Def Leppard for several reasons in 'This Week In Rock' - one being a big birthday for frontman Joe Elliott.
