Steven Isserlis performs Dvorák's Cello Concerto with the Royal Northern Sinfonia

Principal Conductor Dinis Sousa rounds off the Royal Northern Sinfonia's season with cellist Steven Isserlis in a concert featuring Dvorak, Tjøgersen and Schumann.

The Royal Northern Sinfonia's final concert of the season opens with Antonin Dvořák’s wistful yet triumphant Cello Concerto, performed by star cellist Steven Isserlis and conducted by Dinis Sousa.

In the second half, Kristine Tjøgersen’s 'Between Trees' takes you on a journey, deep within a forest, forming a truly unique listening experience.

Robert Schumann's lesser known work, Symphony No. 1 in B flat major, is a springlike and optimistic closing piece for the last concert before the summer.

Recorded last month at the Glasshouse, Gateshead.

Presented by Linton Stephens.
