In this special edition, Jamie explores how the world of art and literature have been a source of inspiration to classical composers through the ages. Featured music includes Scottish pianist Steven Osbourne performing Mussorgsky’s Picture At An Exhibition, inspired by the paintings of Russian artist Viktor Hartmann. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scottish Symphony Orchestra perform works taking their inspiration from Robert Burns and Shakespeare (My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose/The Tempest), and the RSNO perform the Waltz Suite by Prokofiev (War & Peace, Cinderella) and music referencing Sir Walter Scott (The Land of the Mountain and the Flood).
