30 Years of UKG and its offshoots, the early 00s

30 Years of UKG and its offshoots, the early 00s. Rise of the bedroom producer and period of experimentation.

This week in our month celebrating UKG and its offshoots, we emerge into the late 90s and early 00s. A time when UKG and MC culture was evolving. More wobbly basslines and the emergence of MCs like Dizzee Rascal, Jammer and Skepta. This was a time of experimentation and new sounds which would forge the sounds of grime and dubstep. Technology was making it cheaper to create beats in your bedroom and as such, Dizzee Rascal produced the genre defining I Luv U at 16. Featuring music from Zed Bias, Wookie, Oris Jay, Jammer and Wiley.
