Radio 2 Piano Room - Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet - one of the most celebrated and distinctive voices the UK has ever produced - performs in The Radio 2 Piano Room. Plus more music quizzing in Ten To The Top.

Music icon Alison Moyet is the latest star to perform in the summer run of Radio 2’s Piano Room.

Alison started off as a punk, became one half of 80s synth-pop duo, Yazoo, and released her No. 1 debut solo album – all by the age of 23. She’s released nine solo studio albums, won three BRIT Awards, been nominated for a Grammy and most recently graduated from university with a first class degree in Fine Art Printmaking. She is quite simply one of the most celebrated and distinctive voices this country has ever produced, and 2024 sees her celebrating her 40th anniversary as a solo artist. Performing alongside the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra, Alison Moyet will play a classic hit, something brand new, and an unexpected cover. Her performance will also be available to hear on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds and watch on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer.

Also today, Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe continues to select the songs that have inspired him in this week's Tracks Of My Years. Russell has starred in some of the biggest blockbusters ever, from Les Miserables to Thor: Love and Thunder, and he won an Oscar for Best Actor in Gladiator in 2000. He’s a keen musician and has released albums with his own band, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. He’s livening up the summer in the UK by bringing Russell’s Indoor Garden Party to venues across the country in July in which he promises an organic night of music and stories with his band, The Gentlemen Barbers!
