Time to Help Out
Two inspirational teams of volunteers hunt for bargains in Newark, and Natasha Raskin Sharp visits the Shropshire beekeepers who transformed a derelict site into a community hub.
It’s Volunteers’ Week, and as part of nationwide event The Big Help Out, Natasha Raskin Sharp presents an inspirational episode that’s all about volunteering.
At Newark fair in Nottinghamshire, two teams of young volunteers are shopping for antiques, with experts Danny Sebastian and Kate Bliss lending a hand. On the red team are Nancy and Ellen, who help out at a local foodbank and a historic visitor attraction. They’re up against Melvin and Darryl on the blue team, who are both ambassadors for a youth inclusion project. But will the bidders be in a generous mood when the teams’ items go under the hammer in Richard Winterton’s saleroom in Staffordshire?
Natasha is buzzing when she meets a merry band of beekeepers who came together to transform a derelict site in Shropshire. She learns how they created an amazing community hub, which combines their passion for nature, history, art and education.
