Michelle McManus and guests broadcast live from The Wyllieum, a new gallery space dedicated to the late Scottish artist George Wyllie, ahead of the doors opening to the public.
Michelle McManus is broadcasting The Afternoon Show live from Greenock on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Scotland today, from The Mezzanine of The Wyllieum, a new gallery space dedicated to the late artist George Wyllie.
We will have live music from local musicians The Laurettes, and David Laing.
We'll be hearing all about George Wyllie and hearing personal memories of him from actor Gavin Mitchell, best known as Bobby the Barman from Still Game, and poet and playwright Liz Lochhead, as well as hearing about the opening of the new gallery and the artist himself from The Wyllieum Director Will Cooper and arts journalist Jan Patience, who co-authored a biography on the artist with his eldest daughter Louise Wyllie, and has studied his work for many years.
Michelle will also be joined by film critic Ian Hoey, comedian Jay Lafferty, and journalist Paul English, who share their memories of growing up in the Inverclyde area.
Anna Welander will introduce new local poet Joe Logue as part of our weekly Upload platform, who will perform a live poem on the show.
