Whilst Def Jam has a diverse roster, it's hip-hop that it's most widely known for. In Part 1 of Def Jam at 40 we start at the beginning in 84 with the label's first rap record T La Rock through to LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Capleton (yes Capleton had releases on Def Jam) to DMX.
