Alexandre Tharaud live at Wigmore Hall and chamber and orchestral music from Edinburgh and Glasgow

Presented by Linton Stephens, including Monday's live Wigmore Hall recital by Alexandre Tharaud, plus an afternoon of exclusive live recordings of chamber and orchestral music.

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by Â鶹ԼÅÄ orchestras, choirs, ensembles, and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

Today's Classical Live begins with a live recital from London's Wigmore Hall, featuring the French virtuoso pianist Alexandre Tharaud and a programme of Couperin and Satie, culminating in his own transcription of Ravel's gigantic waltz-fantasy La Valse.

There's music from the Elias Quartet, specially recorded for Classical Live at the Edinburgh New Town Concert Series and Debussy's evocative seascape, La Mer, performed by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow. Plus - to mark Earth Day today, and then across the rest of the week - we showcase Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. And the progamme pays tribute to the conductor Sir Andrew Davis, who died this weekend, with music from the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra performing Elgar.
